The Flame, Cheap Trick "The Flame " is what in English is called a power ballad of Cheap Trick, released on July 25, 1988. The song was offered first to the English singer Elkie Brooks, who rejected it. Written by Bob Mitchell and Nick Graham, the song was first released in the album Cheap Trick album luxury. "The Flame" reached number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in 1988 when it was released as a single, and also reached number one in Australia. The song's success led the group to a year of commercial tour.

According to singer Robin Zander, "The band was very reluctant about performing this song live because he liked to play only songs written for them.

This song has been cover for many other artists such as: Erin Hamilton Casey Donovan, but nothing like the original version of Cheap Trick.
